The author analyzed the design time of log products in recent years, and conducted case studies and explanations from the perspective 

of the inherent characteristics of log materials, the rational level of product design, and the emotional level of product design.

For product design, Mr. Dieter Rams proposed the Ten Principles of Design as early as 60 years ago. 

Although the Ten Principles of Design have been proposed for a long time, they are the essence of the essence 

and still applicable to product design in today's society.

Wood is a great recyclable material, and with the development of human civilization, humans have proposed a system called FSC. 

The FSC system achieves recyclability through planned planting and planned mining. Wood, as a material of products, 

has unparalleled advantages over other materials. It is grown naturally, and the wood grain on its surface is random. 

After polishing it smooth, it will have a great touch. Different species have different traits, and their surface textures and pores have their

own characteristics and arrangements. As a material, many designers are willing to use wood. The design of wooden products has 

become increasingly common. Next, we will discuss several aspects of wooden product design.

Firstly, from the perspective of the inherent characteristics of the raw wood material itself. Different types of wood have different skin tones, 

wood grain, hardness, and specific gravity. Therefore, it is necessary for us to first understand the characteristics of wood before designing wooden products. 

The commonly used wood species with a white color are beech, maple, and white wax wood, which are often used in home design. 

Beech wood is mostly produced in Europe and North America, and belongs to the high-end furniture manufacturing industry. 

It is relatively lightweight and is often used to manufacture furniture for the elderly or children. Maple wood has moderate strength, 

delicate texture, and harmonious color. It is commonly used in the production of fine wood furniture and products, 

and is mainly produced in North America and Canada. White wax wood is a type of wood with stable texture, distinct wood grain,

 and high strength. White wax wood has relatively high strength and is not easily deformed. Most high-end snooker clubs are made of white wax wood.

As a material that can be mass-produced, wood must go through many processes to become a stable and reliable material. 

The wood of a tree has different grades in different parts. After quantity mining, it is necessary to go through procedures such as cutting and drying. 

So the thickness of normal wooden boards is generally not less than 5cm. Because thick wooden boards are not easy to dry. 

In this way, when designing products, we must consider the thickness and size of the product in order to fully utilize the wood. 

Of course, wood can be increased in thickness or width by splicing with latex, but the wood grain on the same board is continuous and natural, 

which can affect the appearance of the product.

From the rational perspective of natural wood product design, product design is ultimately primarily intended for human use. 

So, product design is destined to have a certain level of functionality. In other words, rational factors are essential in the process of designing wooden products. 

A good product design must be user-friendly and durable, suitable for the entire environment, easy to understand and convenient to use. These, we call rational factors.

Next, we will conduct an analysis using several wooden products that I have designed myself. Nest Egg is a wooden egg with a magnet hidden inside the wood. 

When a pile of metal paper clips are attached underneath, it instantly becomes a Nest. When placed in the office, it becomes a tool for storing paper clips and gives people a subtle pleasure. 

If it were just a wooden egg, its appearance would still be beautiful, but without functionality, the product design would instantly become impractical. 

The design of wooden products has lost its rational factor, just like an airplane has lost its power.

The expression of the wooden doll is very interesting. But equally, if it loses the function of adsorbing paper clips,

it will only be a decoration and no longer have vitality like a product. From a rational perspective, the three legged wooden floor lamp

is a very rational wooden product design. The design concept at that time was as follows: floor lamps were usually placed next to our sofas, 

and a circular tabletop was set up on the floor lamps to facilitate the use of water cups, remote controls, etc. For the convenience of transportation 

and storage of floor lamps, all three legs can be disassembled with knobs. This packaging can minimize and facilitate transportation. All of this is a rational factor.

From the emotional perspective of designing wooden products. Human beings are very complex animals, they have emotions. Many times, 

when designing wooden products, it is necessary to start from an emotional level in order to truly impress users. 

Wood is actually a very special material that can move people in many ways. Let's make a simple analysis from the original design of this wooden desk lamp MAN. 

From the perspective of the ten principles of design, it is a table lamp that is so simple that it cannot be any simpler. Design is aimed at minimizing design 

as much as possible. A cylindrical piece of wood serves as both the body of the lamp and the base of our conventional design, along with a movable lampshade. 

The cylindrical wooden pillar has undergone the simplest car wood processing, naturally expressing the most beautiful wood grain. This may impress many consumers.

The design of the wooden small fish pen mainly starts from the emotional level. Fish is a very flexible and free animal, just like writing requires freedom and flexibility.
